Checks by societynowng.com revealed that in taking this step the ex governor abandoned the services of the huge money gulping specialist hospital he set up across the period of his two term as governor of Akwa Ibom state.
Estimated to have cost about N30billion, the health care facility is widely described as a ‘‘308-bed international specialist hospital with an ultra-modern medical facility with six fully integrated modular theatres that will redirect medical tourism to Akwa Ibom State and the country’’.
It is equally said to be equipped with ‘640 slides CT scan, digital mammography, endoscopy surgery, highly sophisticated intensive care units and medical gas plants’, as well as over a hundred specialists doctors.
It is yet unclear why the mega investment the former governor now Senate Minority claimed- as part of reasons to set it up- was built to stem the loss of ‘’ billions of dollars every year to medical trips abroad’’ is now shunned by the initiator for ‘’ medical treatment abroad’.
