Security: Bago Praises Army For Commitment, Sacrifice In Niger

Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru, has commended and acknowledged the commitment and sacrifices being made by the Nigerian Army in securing the nation.

The farmer governor gave the commendation during the 2025 West African Social Activities(WASA) jointly organized by the Training and Doctrine Command TRADOC and 31 Artillery Brigade held at the Minna Cantonment

Farmer Umaru Bago appreciated the Nigerian Army for its commitment to the security of lives and property of the citizens in the State and Country at large adding that, the armed forces have continued to repel criminals and have restored peace and calm in some troubled parts of the State.

The farmer governor, while acknowledging the efforts of the Officers and men of the Nigerian Army, reiterated that his administration will do whatever it can to continue to support them to succeed as well as support their families.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago also described the West African Social Activities WASA as significant as it provides a platform where the Army unites with members of the society and an avenue for promoting culture and tourism.

The farmer governor on behalf of the state government then made a donation of N20m to each of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association and the Nigerian Soldiers Wives Association.

The Commander, Training and Doctrine Command, TRADOC Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Maj.Gen. Paul Malla, who highlighted the significance of th West African Social Activities WASA, explained that the traditional festival has been held for many decades to command the confidence of soldiers and foster unity.

He said, the Nigerian Army has upheld the tradition which has continued to provide an enabling environment where service personnel along with their families come together and relax in an informal atmosphere to celebrate and showcase the diverse ethnic and rich cultural heritage of the Nigerian Army.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of a plague from the TRADOC and the 31 Artillery Brigade to the farmer governor as a mark of friendship in appreciation to his support to all the troops in Niger State.

The traditional event also featured cultural displays and Tug of War between Nigerian Army personnel and the Nigeria Police Force.
