Risky Venture!…How Tunde Buraimoh Emerged Most Powerful Member In Lagos Assembly With Speaker Obasa Battling Corruption Allegations

Tunde Buraimo is the most powerful member of the Lagos State House of Assembly at present sources disclosed.

Buraimoh from Kosofe state constituency took the position from Speaker Mudashiru Obasa who is facing growing resentments orchestrated by the principal members he got demoted and the floor members he suspended – but recalled after the indirect intervention by mentor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The aggrieved members targetted by Obasa because of their loyalty to Senator Bayo Osinowo – more popularly known as Pepper – are leveraging on the corruption allegations against the speaker to sow seeds of dissident against him in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Before he became a Senator in the last election, Osinowo was the final word in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Obasa plotted his loyalists out of positions of influence, including demoting principal officers, in the bid to eradicate Osinowo’s influence.

The move backfired spectacularly with Obasa doused in corruption allegations which have weakened his hold on the House of Assembly with the aggrieved members trying to turn the table on him.

Societynow.ng learned Buraimoh, has profited in the situation to attain a position of power by maintaining the position of mediator.

He has refused to commit any of the factions at war and has adopted the status of peacemaker which allows him to “peddle” influence in the warring camps, getting things to go his way societynow.ng learned.

“He derives his power from the ability to get work the two sides to a predetermined objective under the guise of non-partisan” societynow.ng gathered.

An insider, however, pointed out that “there is catch to the power he enjoys, it is very temporary because by not committing to either of the sides the issue of loyalty comes into the play. It means he is only loyal to himself and when this matter is resolved, his power will disappear because the two sides won’t put him in their confidence again and there goes the access that is the key to his power”. 

Insider disclosed that before the current mess, Obasa and Braimoh were hardcore loyalists of Osinowo who used his strong bond with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu – and Minister Rauf Aregbesola – to secure their political relevance
