The reasons why commissioners and some other appointees in the administration of the immediate past Governor of Osun state, Gboyega Oyetola took away their official cars have been revealed.

Those speaking on behalf of these categories of people accused by the new government in Osun state insist they are “statutory entitled”

“It is also important to point out that this gesture is not limited to political appointees alone, as in the past, career officers had also been allowed to go home with their used vehicles as gift on retirement for serving the state meritoriously. ” a statement signed by Kola Olabisi, the Director Media of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Osun state asserted.

Reacting to the same allegation leveled against Oyetola and his deputy, the APC Spokesperson stated “For clarity sake, the former governor and his deputy, by law and convention, are entitled to certain privileges and these are well documented.”

He however insisted that “Apart from those vehicles which their offices permit them to take home, they never took any other item.”

Oyetola who governed the state on the platform of the APC and some of his officials are being accused by the administration of Demola Adeleke, the new governor elected on the platform of rival People’s Democratic Party(PDP) of making away with vehicles belonging to the state worth N2.9bn.
