The wind has been taken out of the sails of the progress of Kwara State Governor, Ahmed Abdulfatah in the powerful Saraki political structure.

The political structure headed by Senate President Bukola Saraki holds the politics of Kwara state firmly in its palm.

Ahmed, a former commissioner who rose to become the outgoing two-term governor of Kwara state is widely regarded as a top player and fiercely loyal member of the political family.

Ahmed’s loyalists always boast he is second in command to Senate President Bukola Saraki in the structure.

But that talk just went with the wind based on the recent development.

A Senatorial ticket given to Ahmed that solidified his influence and rating in the Saraki structure has just been yanked out of his hand.

The move was ordered by the leader of the political family, Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Despite the official reasons thrown up for this development, societynow.ng gathered the occurrence has roots in the perceived inability of Ahmed to handle the threat facing the Saraki political structure in his base.

The family just suffered shameful defeat in a bye-election for Ekiti/ Oke Ero/ Isin/ Irepodun Federal Constituency.

The constituency falls under Kwara South Senatorial district where Governor Ahmed officially emerged the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party – thanks to Senator Bukola Saraki.

Societynow.ng gathered that the defeat suffered by the Saraki structure in the November 17 by-election, however, halted Ahmed’s march to the Senate.

Insiders confirmed that convinced that there was a “protest vote” against his party because of the Senatorial ticket that was given to Ahmed, Saraki ordered the ticket to be returned to incumbent Senator Abdulrafiu Ibrahim.

“Saraki was convinced that Abdulrafiu’s sympathizers’ refusal to work for the PDP over taking away of his senatorial ticket resulted in the shameful loss in the bye-election” a source stated.

Societynow.ng gathered the Abdulrafiu camp carried out the deed to expose the political strength of Ahmed in the senatorial constituency he wanted to take charge of.

Societynow.ng gathered Saraki opted to appease the Abdulrafiu camp by taking away the Senatorial ticket from Ahmed.

“A development that knocked Ahmed from the top position in Saraki camp” a source disclosed.

Societynow.ng gathered there is unconfirmed information floating around that the taking away of Ahmed’s ticket also has roots in the certificate scandal giving People’s Democratic Party candidate in Kwara state Razak Atunwa a lot of grief.
