“Our choice of sports as an area of priority back in 2016 has been vindicated”
Football club, Bendel Insurance Insurance extended its unbeaten run in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to 12 matches on Saturday.
Pictures tell how Governor Godwin Obaseki and his crew including the deputy governor, Philip Shaibu were on hand to cheer the team at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.
And after the match with Kwara United Football Club, an elated Obaseki posted on his social media page…
“Our darling team, Bendel Insurance Football Club performed commendably, earlier today, by extending their 12-match unbeaten run with an exciting draw against visiting Kwara United Football Club.
I was joined by my deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu; other top government officials; leaders of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as teeming fans of our darling club who graced the highly anticipated Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash.
Our choice of sports as an area of priority back in 2016 has been vindicated, as the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, venue for today’s match, which we reconstructed is now world class and can proudly host world events. As a government, we will continue to invest in sports development in the state to encourage our youth and promote the indomitable Edo spirit.
