Photos: Highlights As Nigerian Navy Holds Sunset & Dinner Night

at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Lagos.

The Nigerian Navy 68th Anniversary Celebrations which started on 20 May 2024 came to a colourful end with a beautifully orchestrated Ceremonial Sunset & Dinner Night on Saturday 1 June at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Lagos.

The Special Guest of Honour was the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwolu ably represented by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. Also present was the Honorable Minister of State for Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Bello Marawalle.

Many other dignitaries graced the occasion hosted by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla.

The dignitaries included the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Colonel Agbu Kefas, the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall HB Abubakar and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye.

Also in attendances were former Chief of Defence Staff Admiral OS Ibrahim, many former service chiefs & icons of the Navy, General/Flag/Air Officers Commanding and a large number of members of the diplomatic corps.

One of the major highlights of the evening was the presentation of brand new Toyota Hilux vehicles to deserving Naval Warrant Officers for their meritorious service.

The evening also witnessed a helicopter display by the Naval Air Base, rappelling from static helos by the Special Boat Service, winging of qualified pilots and award of Command at Sea Badges to deserving seaman officers.

The CNS, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla appreciated everyone for their support and stated that with the multinational nature of the attendees for this year’s celebrations, Nigeria’s place in the comity of littoral states had been further strengthened.

Thus the the Nigerian Navy is better positioned to secure the maritime domain to engender a prosperous blue economy in fulfillment of the President and Commander-in-Chief’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
