The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule on Friday officially Flagged off the Maiden Edition of Fishing Festival in Feferuwa Lake, Assakio Lafia East Development Area.
The festival is important for conserving the fish in the Lake, thus ensuring the economic viability of the community’s fishery,
while creating awareness and improved fishing activities towards boosting food production and revenue amongst the people.
The Fishing Festival also aims at becoming one of the tourist events not just in the North Central but in Nigeria as a whole.
As it attracts thousands of guests from all over: therefore can be considered as being a significant source of foreign exchange going forward.
It further boosts the hospitality industry in Nasarawa State, as the tourism importance of this festival will continue
to be felt considering the signifies prosperity for Assakio Lafia East Development Area, Nasarawa State and indeed Nigeria.
