The whispers of a rift between Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola appear far from fading anytime soon.

This is despite conscious efforts by the Senator, popularly known as Yayi, to dismiss the talks, while the Governor simply turns a blind eye.

Newly stoking the claims of a conflict are pictures from the inauguration ceremony of the new Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, and his Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Photos from the event held at the Edo State capital, Benin, have been posted by media handlers of both Senator Yayi and the Governor, famously known as D.A.

The fact that both were at the event has sparked various narratives and fueled speculation.

As of press time, while the Senator representing Ogun West featured Abiodun in the images released by his team, Yayi is notably absent in the photos from Okpebholo’s swearing-in posted by the Governor’s media team..

This development has further fueled rumors about their rapport.

Even the single picture of an interaction between Abiodun and Yayi, spotted in the collage released by the Senator’s media team, is attracting all sorts of interpretations.

In his commentary on the inauguration, Senator Yayi hailed the people of Edo for “doing the right and just thing in a democracy” by helping Okpebholo break the jinx of Edo Central not producing a Governor.

Yayi, whose handlers listed Abiodun as one of the guests at the swearing-in, is working to become the first person from Ogun West to become the Governor of Ogun State in 2027.

For his part, Abiodun declared, “I am confident that Governor Okpebholo will lead with distinction, driving positive socio-economic changes for the benefit of all the people of Edo State.”

Other high-profile members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Edo Governor’s inauguration included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps Benjamin Kalu, Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Senators Adams Oshiomhole and Gbenga Daniel, as well as Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Hope Uzodinma.
