Football is a game of passion—so goes the popular saying. Governor Dapo Abiodun embodied that sentiment with his reactions during the final of the National Sports Festival (NSF) football match between Ogun State and Kwara.

He was caught unawares in various moods at different stages of the tension-soaked encounter, which saw Ogun State clinch victory with four goals to Kwara’s one.

The Governor was seen watching the proceedings with intense focus, later erupting in a triumphant scream as Ogun sealed the win.

The 22nd edition of the NSF, dubbed Gateway Games, is currently ongoing in Ogun State.

The football final was held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Governor Abiodun described the match as “unforgettable” and hailed the victory as “commanding.”

“I was present to witness the passion, the energy, and the overwhelming support from the crowd — a turnout that set a new record in the history of this competition,” the Governor stated in a social media post after the match.

Before match day, Ogun State was third on the overall medal table with 38 gold, 24 silver, and 34 bronze medals (96 in total). Bayelsa was in second place with 45 gold, 34 silver, and 30 bronze medals (109), while Delta maintained a commanding lead with 66 gold, 39 silver, and 59 bronze medals (164).
