Oyetola Stays Away From “Social Media” Weeks After Guber Loss

Weeks after he lost the July 16 Osun state gubernatorial election by 375,027 votes to 403,371 votes, Governor Gboyega Oyetola has continued to “snub” social media.

His self-name pages on Facebook and Instagram have gone “fallow”.

The pages ( verified Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Facebook and not-yet-verified adegboyegaoyetola on Instagram ) were actively used to campaign for the election he lost to Demola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

SocietyNow.Ng’s checks revealed that at press time, the last post made by the 67year old – just five days shy of his 68th birthday – who was the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Facebook was on election day, urging a free and fair process.

And his last post on Instagram at press time was on August 27, to celebrate the 31st anniversary of Osun state, the only one after the July 16 election post urging a free and fair process.

SocietyNow.Ng’s checks revealed that after the gubernatorial defeat by the governor who was denied a second term in office because of his “politics” rather than performance, his personal social media pages have gone “fallow”

Oyetola’s second-term ambition magnified an unending supremacy battle with Minister Rauf Aregbesola, the man he took over as Governor of Osun state on 27 November 2018 and this reportedly contributed hugely to his July 16, 2022 electoral loss.
