Senator Ibikunle Amosun is seen in an emerging video leading supporters to the campaign office of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC).
Amosun, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is backing ADC gubernatorial candidate, Biyi Otegbeye against his party’s flagbearer Governor Dapo Abiodun as the next Governor of Ogun state.
The governorship election comes up on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
The video which has supporters chanting “Ibi ta Amosun nlo, lawa nlo” (Where Amosun goes, we go”, “ADC’ and related slogans emerged over the weekend.
It is the second time Amosun is moving against Abiodun using another political party.
The former two-term governor of Ogun state used the Allied People’s Movement (APM) with Adekunle Akinlade as his anointed candidate in 2019 but was pegged to second place in the election that gave Abiodun his first term in office.
Akinlade is the deputy to Ladi Adebutu, the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election in Ogun state.
Despite the fact that there are candidates of other political parties on the ballot, Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ogun state is widely seen as a three-horse race involving Abiodun (APC), Adebutu (PDP) and, Otegbeye (ADC).
