Ogun Guber: Adeola Yayi Boosts Influence In GNI Isiaka’s Base

The political machinery of Senator Solomon Adeola, the leading gubernatorial aspirant in Ogun State, remains unrelenting despite his status as the main contender in the race to determine the next governor.

Checks revealed that it has taken very intentional steps to boost the influence of the Senator, famously known as Yayi, in the base of his strongest challenger within his senatorial district.

His handlers, representing Ogun West, are flooding towns with details of his good deeds in Imeko Afon, the stronghold of Gboyega Nasir Isiaka.

Findings revealed that details of the projects influenced by the Senator in the area — including a recently facilitated set of 90 infrastructure projects — are being widely shared, boosting his standing as a leader committed to making lives better for the people of the area, which forms part of his senatorial district.

Isiaka — the grassroots politician better known as GNI — represents Yewa South/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Like Yayi, he is the face of Yewa’s push to produce the governor of Ogun State for the first time.

GNI is making a run for the Ogun gubernatorial seat for the fourth time, while Yayi — who has run a whirlwind of “unofficial campaigns” that transformed him into the leading aspirant across the state — is contesting for the first time.

But despite Yayi’s widespread appeal, GNI remains a major contender, largely due to the bloc support from Yewa natives clamoring for a homegrown politician to help the region achieve the long-sought ambition of producing a governor.

Yayi, until 2023 when he became the Senator representing Ogun West, had held multiple elective positions in Lagos State.

“But he has enjoyed a fantastic run since he became Ogun Senator, one that has made many people turn a blind eye to his Lagos pedigree,” sources confirm.

Findings further revealed that Senator Adeola’s performance in office since 2023 has been widely described as exceptional and unprecedented. But despite this applause, members of GNI Isiaka’s support base remain resolute in their choice, even as Yayi’s political machinery continues unceasingly in its bid to make them have a change of heart.
