OAGF Says No Mandate For Federal Workers To Change Salary Accounts
The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has explained that no directive has been issued requiring federal employees to change the banks associated with their Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) salary accounts.
In a statement released on Monday by Bawa Mokwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations, the OAGF reassured workers that IPPIS is dedicated to their well-being and would not implement any policy that could lead to confusion or unnecessary worry.
This clarification comes amid false claims for employees to shift salary accounts, possibly due to Impact of ongoing system upgrades at some financial institutions.
The OAGF emphasized that any decision to switch salary accounts remains solely at the discretion of individual workers. It reiterated that the IPPIS Office has not issued any blanket directive on the matter, as no valid reason exists to justify such a move.
The statement further urged banks to strengthen customer trust by delivering stable and reliable services to employees who choose to have their salaries managed by them.
The OAGF also underscored the responsibilities of regulatory agencies in evaluating the stability of financial institutions, expressing confidence in their capability to fulfill these obligations effectively.
“The OAGF reiterated that any application for a change of salary account is strictly a personal choice of the worker involved and clarified that no general directive has been issued by the IPPIS Office, as there is no need for such an action,” the statement read.
The OAGF called on financial institutions to adopt measures that would boost customer confidence and ensure they consistently meet their obligations to employees, as well as to Nigerians more broadly.
Employees with legitimate reasons to update their salary accounts on the IPPIS platform were advised to follow the official procedures for making such adjustments.
