No Sacred Cows! Otu Slams Brakes On Dirty Deals In Cross River Recruitment Mess
following findings of employment racketeering and gross misconduct.
Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has taken decisive action against alleged corruption in the Local Government Service Commission, following findings of employment racketeering and gross misconduct.
In a statement personally signed by the governor, Otu announced that he had accepted the resignation of the Commission’s Chairman, Mr. Darlington Bassey Eyo, who was indicted in the compromised recruitment exercise. The governor also ordered the immediate suspension of the ongoing employment process, describing it as tainted and unfit to continue without a full-scale review.
Otu said a special committee would be set up to investigate the matter, identify those responsible, and recommend appropriate sanctions. He maintained that his administration would not condone corruption or any act that could undermine public trust in government.
“This administration will not tolerate corruption or any act capable of undermining public trust. No individual, no matter their position, will be allowed to stain the integrity of our government,” the governor declared.
The governor’s decision has sparked conversations across the state, with many describing it as a bold move to restore discipline and merit in the civil service. His statement signals a strong message that the era of impunity and backdoor appointments in Cross River may be drawing to an end.
