Findings in the preliminary police investigation into the looting and setting ablaze of a parish of the Celestial Church of Christ, (CCC), in Oke Ira Nla, Ajah have been released.

The information leased by the police revealed that contrary to the claims that resulted in the assault of members, looting of church property, and setting ablaze of the church, CCC Overcomers parish – there was no case of ritual killing or mutilation of a dead body SocietyNow.Ng learned.

“Someone was engaged to evacuate the septic tank in the church. While he was doing the job, he fell into the septic tank. He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. And some angry youths burnt the church. The body was not mutilated. The policemen were there and they took pictures and no part of his body was removed. No arrest has been made yet.”, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin responded to an inquiry on the matter from Punch Newspaper.

The revelation puts to rest speculations that resulted in the invasion of the church on Friday, June 2, 2023, assault on church members, looting of properties, and burning of the church by people labeled to be kinsmen of the person engaged to evacuate the septic tank aided by Okada riders (commercial motorcyclists”.

An individual named Dogo identified as a Hausa man was reported contracted to evacuate the church’s septic tank ahead of Sunday, June 4, 2023, Juvenile Harvest of the church.

Dogo,a regular face at the church reported for work in the very early hours of Friday, June 2, 2023 during an overnight “New Moon Service” at the church. He reportedly slipped while carrying out the function and tumbled into the septic tank along with an elder that came to his aid.

He was brought out dead with the elder in critical condition.

His death resulted in different shades of dark speculations that spiralled into a violent attack on the church.
