The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has dismissed speculations regarding the operational status of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), affirming that the facility remains fully functional despite a minor incident earlier in the day.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Olufemi O. Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, reassured the public that the refinery, which recently underwent rehabilitation, continues to operate at full capacity, producing refined petroleum products that meet industry specifications.

“Despite a minor incident at a section of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) earlier today, the plant remains operational and continues to produce on-spec refined petroleum products,” the statement read.

NNPCL urged Nigerians to disregard misleading reports suggesting disruptions at the refinery, emphasizing that all sections of the facility are functioning as expected. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a steady supply of petroleum products across the country.

The clarification comes amid growing public interest in the performance of Nigeria’s refineries following recent rehabilitation efforts aimed at reducing reliance on fuel imports.
