On Saturday, 20 September 2025, the Nigerian Navy (NN) conducted its third quarter route march in the Abuja area, with personnel drawn from various units within the Federal Capital Territory.

The exercise, which took place at the Naval Base Abuja, was aimed at reinforcing the importance of physical fitness, mental alertness, discipline, and teamwork among officers and ratings.

Beyond enhancing operational readiness, the route march also served as a demonstration of the NN’s collective commitment to national security, professionalism, and the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

In his remarks, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, who was represented by the Chief of Operations, Rear Admiral Patrick Nwatu, charged NN personnel to remain steadfast and fully committed to the effective discharge of their duties.

He further encouraged officers and ratings to consistently engage in physical and mental exercises to ensure they remain alert, resilient, and physically fit in carrying out the NN’s constitutional mandate.

The CNS emphasized that such preparedness is vital, particularly in safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime environment, protecting critical national assets, and contributing to the overall safety and security of the nation.
