“Never Made Such A Statement” — CityBoy Movement Distances Seyi Tinubu From False 2027 Blasphemy Claim, Fingers Mischief Makers
never made any blasphemous remark regarding God or the 2027 presidential election
The CityBoy Movement, on Monday, strongly refuted what it described as a “false, malicious and deliberately inflammatory” statement being circulated on social media and wrongly attributed to Barrister Seyi Tinubu, insisting that the President’s son never made any blasphemous remark regarding God or the 2027 presidential election.
In a press statement issued by its Deputy Director General for Communication and Public Affairs, O’tega Ogra, the movement dismissed the viral write-up as a dangerous fabrication designed to tarnish Seyi Tinubu’s image, distort his values and provoke unnecessary religious tension across the country.
“The attention of the CityBoy Movement has been drawn to a false, malicious and deliberately inflammatory write up circulating on social media… in which certain blasphemous statements are falsely attributed to our Patron, Barr. Seyi Tinubu,” the statement read.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Barr. Seyi Tinubu did not make the statement credited to him. He has never made such a statement at any time, in any place, through any channel, or under any circumstance whatsoever,” it stated emphatically.
Describing the attribution as “entirely false,” the group said the claim was not only reckless but also dangerous in consequence, warning Nigerians against falling for what it called a calculated campaign of misinformation.
“The attribution is entirely false. It is malicious in intent, reckless in circulation and dangerous in consequence,” Ogra declared.
The movement further spotlighted Seyi Tinubu’s personal faith, stressing that he remains deeply reverent toward God and firmly believes that power belongs to the Almighty alone.
“Barr. Seyi Tinubu is a man of faith who holds deep reverence for Almighty God. He believes firmly that all power belongs to God alone, and that no man can attain, retain or exercise authority except by the grace, mercy and permission of the Almighty,” the movement gave insight.
It added that at no point had Seyi Tinubu insulted, mocked or diminished the supremacy of God or Allah, insisting that any portrayal suggesting otherwise was a deliberate falsehood.
“He has never insulted, mocked, questioned or diminished the supremacy of Almighty God or Allah, and will never do so,” the statement added.
While reaffirming Seyi Tinubu’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, the group was careful to stress that such political commitment does not supersede divine sovereignty.
“While Barr. Seyi Tinubu remains committed to mobilising support for the re election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in 2027, he also recognises that every political aspiration, every public effort and every human endeavour can only succeed by the will and guidance of Almighty God,” the statement provided added insights.
The CityBoy Movement accused unnamed “mischief makers” of attempting to weaponise religion for political ends, warning that public discourse must not be poisoned by manufactured provocations capable of dividing Nigerians.
“The CityBoy Movement therefore urges Nigerians… to disregard this malicious fabrication and treat it for what it is: a calculated attempt by mischief makers to inflame passions, mislead the public and create tension where none exists,” it urged.
In a broader appeal, the group called on media organisations, digital publishers and social media users to verify information before amplifying it, especially in a politically charged atmosphere where falsehood could threaten national harmony.
“At a time when our country requires maturity, restraint and responsibility, public discourse must never be poisoned with manufactured religious provocation,” Ogra said.
The statement comes amid growing political conversations around 2027 and underscores increasing concerns over the use of misinformation, fake quotations and religious manipulation in shaping public opinion.
Against this backdrop, The CityBoy Movement’s message was unequivocal: Seyi Tinubu’s name must not be dragged into what it described as a malicious falsehood aimed at creating division where none should exist.
