“NDC Govt Will Reopen Investigation” — Kwankwaso Demands Justice For Slain Dan Shagamu
into the reported killing of social media political commentator
Former Kano State Governor and Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has demanded an immediate investigation into the reported killing of social media political commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu.
Kwankwaso, in a statement reacting to the incident, urged the Kano State Government to constitute an investigative panel to thoroughly probe the circumstances surrounding Dan Shagamu’s death and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
He warned that failure by the authorities to take decisive and transparent action would compel the incoming ADC government to reopen the matter when it assumes office in 2027.
“Should the authorities fail to take decisive and transparent action, the incoming NDC Government will, upon assumption of office, launch a full investigation and take all necessary steps to hold those responsible accountable,” Kwankwaso said.
Kwankwaso is the ADC Vice Presidential candidate for the 2027 presidential election, alongside former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, who is the party’s presidential candidate.
He also called on the state and Federal Governments to protect opposition voices from threats, attacks and intimidation, stressing that freedom of expression is guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.
“The Nigerian Constitution guarantees freedom of expression for all citizens, and this right must shield everyone from threats, attacks, and intimidation,” he said.
The former governor further demanded a full investigation by the Nigerian authorities and accountability for anyone found responsible.
Kwankwaso expressed condolences to Dan Shagamu’s family, friends and followers, praying that Almighty Allah grants him Jannatul Firdaus.
