African music makers will feature on the Glo-sponsored 30 minutes magazine programme, African Voices, on CNN International this weekend.

The sponsor of the programme, Globacom, disclosed in a statement released from its headquarters in Lagos that this weekend’s edition will showcase African musicians’ ingenuity and their ability to sustain the interest of their audience through their creativity.
Musicians such as Mozambique’s Deltino Guerreiro “a dreamer ready to do big things with his distinctive voice”, Ghana’s Frank Kissi who is celebrated as “one drummer who has taken his love of drumming to greater heights by creating a unique beat that has caught the attention of an international audience” and Uganda’s Jocelyne Tracey Keko known as “a rising artiste whose path to success has come from finding her voice on controversial topics.”

Jocelyne Tracey Keko whose story touches the heart, became popular in 2010 after releasing her hit album Fallen Heroes which featured other Ugandan artistes. She became East Africa’s leading artiste when she released her hit track “How we do it” which topped the Ugandan music charts. Having secured a niche in the music industry in Uganda, leading beverage company, Pepsi, took interest in her and struck a deal with her. She became the face of the Mountain Dew advertising campaign in East Africa.

The programme last week featured Africa’s “Strong Women” such as South Africa’s first African female pilot, Asnath Mahapa, Uganda’s media personality, Flavia Tumusiime, and Ghana’s social media curator, Nicole Amarteifio.
