…As fight to make appointments, pay outstanding debts rage
There is a festering crisis within the new administration and ranks of forged political alliances that returned Governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Investigations by societynowng.com attribute this development to ongoing intricate fight within his camp.
Information available to societynowng.com have it that, on one hand his allies are pushing for appointment of political office holders, particularly that of the commissioners.
Informants claim at the fore front of this push are supporters and loyalists of big players defectors from the People’s Democratic Party led by influential state and national politics players former governors Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Isiaka Adeleke.
Sources confirmed present delay in the appointments of political office holders in the state contravene earlier arrangement amongst all parties that made up the team that worked together to retain Governor Aregbesola – beat off the challenge of PDP candidate, Iyiola Omisore and his federal government might.
According to a source ‘the refusal of Aregbesola to make appointments has created a bit of unease and kick started murmur of mistrust within the ranks of his allies’
This development is said to be against the backdrop of growing questions of where the monies meant for salaries of and running of the offices the vacant positions, including those of Aides (Special Assistants) board members go – in the face of non execution of projects.
These allegations come against the background of other crisis afflicting the new administration.
Salaries of state workers are said to be in outstanding of for about four months and pensioners are owed some five months arrears as well.
Insiders disclosed those owed have already kicked started protest processes.
Additional findings by scietynowng.com revealed Governor Aregebesola finds himself in a precarious situation trying to compensate the efforts of his allies without causing rancour as regards quota of appointments to be allocated while at the same time retaining majority that would effectively protect his position and safeguard his authority.
‘He appears not to know how to strike that balance at present’ an insider quipped.
More revelations have it that the governor at the slippery edge of maintaining the trust and confidence of his allies has taken refuge in upcoming general elections.
He is said to be delaying action on the premise that the state via finances and logistics is actively engaged in strident efforts to ensure the All Progressives Congress takes over the seat of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from re election seeking incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party.
And also utilising same fund to provide logistics for the successes of the party’s candidates in other state and federal politcal positions in Osun.
Informants disclose while the explanation is viewed plausible, those at the receiving end have started asking increasing questions about.
Those who should however divulged the true position is that the Governor wants all elections done with a clear idea of who won what and which side has benefitted the most, and greatly praying his party takes over the Federal Government so that he would have limited presence of allies in his government by providing patronage for support given outside the state.
‘the governor has a festering crises in his hand’ a source sum up the whole situation.
