Misty Eyed Lucky Aiyedatiwa Sworn-In As Governor Of Ondo State

Ondo State has a new Governor.

He is Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the much-aligned and almost forced out of office Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

With a misty eye, Aiyedatiwa took oath office as the new Governor of Ondo hours after the death of his boss Rotimi Akeredolu.

The death of Akeredolu, who conceded Aiyedatiwa become acting governor under intense pressure, was announced earlier today, December 27, 2023. And Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as Governor at 5.15p.m same day.

Akeredolu reportedly did while undergoing treatment for a prolonged – but undisclosed ailment – that kept him in and out of hospitals abroad.

Aiyedatiwa’s emergence as the new Governor of Ondo state turned a year-long campaign of different shades of bad to make him politically irrelevant, but for the interventions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on its head.

It also ended the drama that added blotches to Akeredolu’s good run as Governor and statesman.
