‘’Looks More Like Mosquitoes Net’’, ‘’ A Serious Safety Issue’’..Gov Makinde Hammered Over New Look On Okada In Oyo State
Eniola Ajayi
Commercial Motorcycles which are better known as Okada in Oyo state now have a new look.
The upper part now adorns a cover that limits the users to two, the rider and a passenger.
And the cover sports an image of new governor Seyi Makinde in a brazen act of campaign.
Societynow.ng gathered that the ‘’innovation’’ was a donation made by a private individual on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The checks made revealed that the ‘’contraption on Okada’’ is not well received by many residents of the state with safety issues raised as a major point.
‘’This is a serious safety issue. Who in god’s name signed off on this?’’ Ade Ola Fowokan queried.

‘’Traffic management guys should not let this be deployed to the public. It’s garish and not safe’’ Ademola Adedotun Layade stated.

‘’Looks more like mosquitoes net’’ Biodun Caston-Dada threw in.

Layade, who started a debate on the development wrote ‘’ About 2months ago I saw a bike with an interesting contraption and took a pic of it…we debated the pros and cons right her (here)on my TL then boom the pic on the right is what looks like a Govt issued contraption.
1. The material will take in alot of heat
2. It completely blocks off the side mirrors.
3. What is a gigantic face of the Gov doing on the damn thing.. campaign was over 9months ago.
4. Was this commissioned by Govt for commercial use?
We should be forward thinking abeg (please)not complicate life with unnecessary innovation that creates more problems.’’
The opinions represent most civil of reactions that have trailed the emergence of the new look of Okada, bearing Governor Makinde’s picture, in Oyo state.
