Let Us Promote Peace, Truth & Unity – Lagos NURTW Boss, Sego Declares After DSS Visit
has reaffirmed his commitment to peace and unity
Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos, has reaffirmed his commitment to peace and unity following an invitation by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Sego was invited on Thursday after allegations that he threatened certain groups and potential voters ahead of the 2027 elections.
The union leader, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu, dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated.
“I was invited by the DSS over false allegations, claiming that I insulted some groups while addressing our members. These rumours are baseless,” he said after regaining his freedom on bail.
According to him, his speeches have always been directed only at union members and not targeted at any community or political bloc.
He added that freedom of association remains a fundamental right that he fully respects.
“There is always an enemy in every job, and we know where this is coming from. This is clearly an attempt to destabilize me and the NURTW in Lagos State,” he said.
Sego maintained that he would not be distracted by attempts to taint his reputation.
He pledged to continue fostering harmony and cooperation within the transport union.
“I remain committed to peace, unity, and the progress of our organization. Together, let us promote freedom of association, peace, truth, and unity in Lagos State,” he declared.
The development comes as political activities gradually intensify across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
