The Lagos state government has directed that all schools – public and private – should shut down their operations on Friday, December 18, 2020.

This directive specifically orders the schools to bring an end to the 2020/2021 First term academic session on Friday and embark on vacation.

This development comes in the face of talks of the upsurge in the recorded cases of Covid-19 in different parts of the country, including Lagos where state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is in isolation and undergoing treatment for infection.

The Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education, Mrs Abiola Seriki-Ayeni issued the directive for the schools to go on vacation.

The schools are directed to resume on Monday, January 4, 2020.

The directive also enjoined “to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols at home while all school proprietors and school administrators are enjoined to also ensure compliance to COVID-19 safety protocols when schools resume for 2nd term.”
