Ex footballer, John Fashanu is living his greatest dread.

His image is in tatters.

And from the low to the mighty news peckers are having a feast on him.

He is enmeshed in a business deal gone sour that earned him two days in jail.

He spent two days detained at a jail called “hell hole” police sources confirmed.

The smooth talker and dresser was allegedly involved in what is portrayed as a scam sale of unavailable land.

Fashanu 54 was accused of selling land not on the market according to reports all over town.

He was reportedly arrested and detained for two days in Abuja for obtaining N9,550,000 (£23,000) under false pretence in the ill fated move.

According to information credited to Police Deputy Inspector General, Hyacinth Dagala “John Fashanu was arrested on July 17 in connection with an allegation of criminal conspiracy and obtaining the sum of N9,550,000 (£23,000) under false pretence. He was granted administrative bail on July 18 but because of his inability to produce the requisite surety on that day, he remained in detention until July 19 when he was released.”

Since the story broke different versions have being making the rounds painting the image of Fashanu in unflattering colours.

And according to those close to him “that is his greatest horror…anything that portrays him in bad light. It gives him sleepless nights because that is what he sells, his means of livelihood!”
