It’s Official: Ex Bank Chief Tokunbo Abiru Is Senator Bayo Pepper’s Successor

Former bank chief Tokunbo Abiru is the new Senator representing Lagos East.

Abiru beats all other contenders for the position by a wide margin in Saturday’s Bye-Election to officially become the successor of the late Bayo Osinowo.

Osinowo’s death earlier in the year as a result of complications from Covid-19 created the vacancy filled with the result of Saturday’s bye-election.

The election was decorated by voters’ apathy and late arrivals of electoral materials held in five local governments with main challenger Babatunde Gbadamosi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) clinching a distant second in the face of Abiru’s massive win.
