Inspector General Of Police Adamu Scraps SARS, To Set Up Replacement Unit

The Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu has announced the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit across the country.

Inspector General of Police ordered the redeployment of all the operatives attached to the units.

I.G Adamu also disclosed that a more responsive and citizen oriented unit would be set up to cater for armed robbery and related violent crimes in the country which SARS catered for.

The scrapping of SARS comes in the face of raging protests against the excesses of the operatives of the unit which include allegation of extra- judicial killing and extortion of innocent Nigerians.
