Insiders insist that the Federal Government has no hand in the tussle over who is the authentic Emir of Kano state.

“The National Security Adviser has nothing to do with it” is the theme of reactions to claims Malam Nuhu Ribadu is utilizing the might of his office to back one of the two persons laying claim to the throne.

The Deputy Governor of Kano state, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo directly made the allegation against National Security Adviser, Ribadu.

The Deputy Governor accused Ribadu of backing the dethroned Emir Aminu Ado Bayero against re-instated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi.

Atiku Abubakar, leader of the opposition and Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general election took things to another height by accusing the “Federal Government of deploying soldiers to Kano” to help the dethroned Ado Bayero to regain the throne.

Insiders, however, insist the claims by the duo are far from the truth.

“His (Ribadu’s) office is tasked with national security, not local chieftaincy matters” an insider emphasized.

The insiders’ stance aligns with assertions of the re-instated Emir Sanusi who is supposed to be hurt by the move.

Emir Sanusi in an interview with Television Continental (TVC), praised President Bola Tinubu for not interfering in the process.

“I would also like to express my thanks to his excellency Alhaji Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu without whose principled stance of non-interference in the internal affairs of the state, this would not have been possible.

“The president has shown that he is a respecter of the constitution and the separation of powers, he recognises that this is a purely local matter and that the government has a responsibility to do what is right for the state. I’m aware that he has resisted all pressure to get the federal government to be involved.” the re-instated Emir stated in the interview reported by thecable.ng before Atiku made his claims.

Sanusi who was deposed as Emir of Kano in 2020 was re-instated on Thursday, May 23, 2024, by the Kano State House of Assembly that repealed the bill that paved the way for his removal.

He returned to Kano on Friday, May 24, 2024 to reclaim the throne but is facing stiff opposition from Emir Ado Bayero who initially left the palace Sanusi’s reinstatement was announced but came back on Saturday based on a “court injunction” allegedly stopping the process.
