Insider Tells Amosun’s Next Step As Court Stops Prefered Candidate In Ogun Guber

A court ruling has nullified the candidature of Biyi Otegbeye as the flagbearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2023 election in Ogun State.

The ruling made on Friday, November 25, 2022, was premised on the process that produced Otegbeye as the candidate of the ADC.

The process that made Otegbeye a gubernatorial candidate was reportedly flawed.

Otegbeye is the preferred candidate of the immediate past Governor, Ibikunle Amosun to govern Ogun state from 2023.

Though a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Amosun is backing Otegbeye to defeat APC candidate Dapo Abiodun, who is seeking a second term.

Amosun adopted ADC for his loyalists to contest the 2023 general election after Abiodun sidelined his camp in a winner-take-all power struggle.

Reacting to the disqualification of Otegbeye and some other candidates of the ADC through a court ruling by a Federal High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State an insider disclosed that “we are appealing”.

The insider tagged the ruling which directed the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to delist the names of ADC candidates including Otegbeye from the list of contenders for the 2023 election as “expected” and disclosed that an appeal will make things right.

The insider, one of Amosun’s top men in ADC, disclosed that the move to appeal the ruling is on.
