Emerging details have it that reason Akwa Ibom commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Udo Ekpenyong was kicked out of the cabinet of Governor Udom Emmanuel is a bit beyond the official “minor cabinet reshuffling”.

Sources disclosed it has more to do with political ‘’appeasement’’ as re-election efforts gather storm.

Ekpenyong was reportedly sacrificed to appease the Senator Godswill Akpabio and Deputy Governor Moses Ekpo camp.

Governor Udom and Akpabio – his predecessor- had reportedly been engulfed in a cold.

Ekpenyong, a rabid supporter of Udom was one of the governor’s charge leaders in the ‘’cold’’ fight.

But he went overboard with his ‘’support’’ for the governor’s agenda at a recent reconciliatory meeting.

Rather than change strategy in his engagement with the ‘’other side’’ at the peace initiative, he stuck to type and ended up insulting Akpabio and the Deputy Governor who refused to blindly side with the governor against the Senator.
