Inside Details As Ogun West Senator Adeola Yayi Makes Bold Claim In Ogun Central
has “just chosen not to be politically naive.”
On Sunday, October 13, 2024, the Senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, made a bold claim in Ogun Central.
He validated “Kemta-Odutola, in the heart of Itoku Adire Complex in Abeokuta (the state capital),” as his maternal home.”

This development comes a month and two weeks after his point man, Kayode Odunaro, posted on social media: “Vacation over. Got to Nigeria this morning. Visited Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, FCA’s mother’s newly constructed family house at Kemta, Abeokuta. As they say in Nigerian parlance, ‘E get why.’ The combo of West and Central in Ogun 2027 is being critically analyzed with projections and permutations ongoing. One more box ticked off… The train will soon start moving… many are boarding as we speak. If you know, you know… if not, forget about it ooo.”
Odunaro made the post about the “maternal home” of the senator, widely labeled as the frontrunner in the race to determine the next Governor of Ogun State in 2027, on September 1, 2024.
Although the Senator insists that the leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will determine the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 election, his actions continue to reinforce claims that he is all set to run.
The publicized Sunday’s visit to his “maternal home,” – shared on his verified social media handle and some of his aides’ – dubbed a “homecoming,” is one of such steps.

This development has been described as a political move that better positions him to actualize his gubernatorial ambition.
“The Senator primarily wants to become Governor as an indigene of a low-vote area of Yewa, which is part of the only region yet to produce a Governor since the state was created (1976). Giving Yewa the opportunity was supposed to be part of the appeal of his gubernatorial ambition, but recent political unravelings are forcing a shift in strategy,” according to emerging details.
The infighting that has prevented the people of Yewa from presenting a united front in the push for the governor’s seat is said to be ongoing like never before. His supposed chief backer has been non-committal, and powerful influences that could help are shopping for a suitable candidate from Ogun Central.
Insiders say staking a claim in Ogun Central with his maternal home puts Senator Yayi in the political equation of being “from the region.”
While Ogun West struggles to jointly present a candidate, Ogun Central and Ogun East—the two larger vote areas—have alternated in electing the Governor of Ogun State since 1976.

“Yayi’s strategy is to be informally accepted as a candidate from Ogun Central by decision-makers, as part of a plan to fit into the arrangement between Ogun East and Ogun Central, taking turns on where the Governor comes from,” insiders say.
Keen followers stress that, from the look of things, Senator Yayi, who is credited with facilitating unprecedented development in Ogun West in less than two years in office, has “just chosen not to be politically naive.”
The talk is that while his supposed backer “sits on the fence,” Yayi has taken his fate into his own hands and is forging alliances that would see him through. And the “homecoming” is emphasized as one of the “alliance-forging moves.”
“And he is making breakthroughs, according to information circulating,” insiders disclosed.
