…risks jail term again

Ousted president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fibresima risks a contempt of court charge over refusal to vacate office as the national President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Ibinabo backed by the Board of Trustees of the Guild has refused to obey the order of a Federal High court sitting in Lagos to vacate office and stop parading herself as Actors Guild President.

Same order was given to all Guild officials elected along with her in what is now declared a null and void election.

In issuing its order, the court ruled that the election that brought Ibinabo and her officers into office was held in the face of a direct order from a competent court of law forbidding it.

Outside of ousting Ibinabo and her crew from office, the court equally ruled that a detailed account of money realised and spent during her illegal regime should be provided within a period of ninety days of the judgement.

But in direct violation of the court’s directive, a group of individuals operating under the auspices of the Board of Director of the Guild held a meeting and passed a vote of confidence on Ibinabo to carry on her duties!.

They then kick started a process to appeal the judgement.

Legal experts however interpret the move by the sacked AGN president and her loyalists as a clear case of contempt of court.

‘there is no way round it, they have to first obey the court order…before they initiate the process to seeking to set aside the order…anything short of that is flouting court directive that exposes all those concerned to contempt of court’ a legal expert disclosed.

Societynowng.com revealed one of the individuals the judgment favoured, Actor Emeka who obtained the court injunction that forbid the election that brought Ibinabo into office had threatened to initiate a contempt of court proceedings against the sacked guild president if she continue to cling to her position.

‘what that means is that Ibinabo would be risking jail time for the second time’ a source in the analysed referring to the man slaughter charge that caused the booted out actors guild president lots of grief and nearly committed her to prison time.
