Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide has spoken on the legal victory that returned the Ghana branch of his church to the fold of his ministry.

The popular preacher whose ministry is famously – informally – known as Winners Chapel asserted that even though he is the head of the church he was not aware of the court case that was hugely reported when it began in 2004 and enjoyed bursts of prominence over the years.

“I was told the Church had judgment for a case outside the country. I never knew that there was a case and I’m supposed to be the Head. I never knew there was a case.” Oyedepo stated in a report monitored by societynow.ng on Church Gist.

Church Gist credited Oyedepo as making the statement during the on-going annual programme, Shiloh at the Canaanland, Ota (Ogun State) international headquarters of his ministry.

Disclosing what he would have done if he was aware of the case that was at different times the talk of the town in Nigeria and Ghana, Oyedepo stated that “ I won’t do anything, I will just be praying for souls to be saved and for them to be established in the faith..”

The checks made by societynow.ng revealed that in 2004, Bishop Georg Adjeman surreptitiously took over the Winner’s Chapel branch when the Ghanaian government directed that churches be registered as companies.

Adjeman registered the church in his name and removed the names of the Oyedepo and all other trustees without the knowledge of the founder and authority at the international headquarters.

This development resulted in an intense and widely reportedly legal tussle that lasted 16years with Oyedepo and his Living Faith Church Worldwide granted victory on November 30, 2020.

The court ruling that gave Oyedepo victory ordered Adjeman to return all properties in possession of his Winner’s Chapel led faction to the Living Faith World Wide with international headquarters in Canaanland.

The Registrar in Ghana was ordered to delete the name of Adjeman from the register of companies with Adjeman also ordered to account for the use of Winner’s Chapel properties from 2004 till date and pay all amounts due with interests.
