“I Have No Hand In Adeniji Adele Demolition” — NURTW Boss Sego Declares
denied reports linking him to the recent demolition and burning of shanties
Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, has denied reports linking him to the recent demolition and burning of shanties at Adeniji Adele Phase 1 on Lagos Island.
Sego, in a statement personally signed by him, described the allegations as false, mischievous, and aimed at tarnishing his image.
He pointed fingers at one Mr. Gbolahan Ogundimu, accusing him of peddling fake news and deliberately spreading lies.
“As a proud Lagos Island product, I do not engage in demolishing property. I am a party man, and will never act against government directives. Anyone can always reach me to ensure peace and prevent chaos,” he said.
He dismissed as baseless insinuations that he had an arrangement with one Rafiu Abija to unlawfully acquire land in the area, stressing that the property in question either belongs to the Lagos State Government or a private family.
Sego explained that his relationship with government is strictly for coordination, peacekeeping, and maintaining order, noting that Adeniji Adele Phase 1 has long been identified as a criminal hotspot.
“My role has always been to act in the interest of law, order, and community welfare. Those spreading rumours could have simply reached out to confirm the truth instead of peddling lies,” he added.
The NURTW boss reaffirmed his commitment to protecting residents and advocating for the less privileged, vowing to continue leading the union with integrity while promoting peace, love, and unity.
“To those spreading falsehoods, the truth will prevail,” Sego declared.
