“Everybody knows that it is not my nature to bring people and you cannot attend to them or host them. So, whoever has done this will suffer for it.” Nyesom Wike the Governor of Rivers State declared yesterday – Monday, December 13, 2021 – as his birthday celebration got underway.

The sin of the Commissioner against the Governor celebrating his 58th birthday was staging a parallel government function while the “birthday boy” was commissioning and flagging off projects to signpost the special day.
A statement signed by Kelvin Ebiri, the Special Assistant to the Governor disclosed that the health commissioner was sacked for not seeking approval to host the preliminary session of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, in PortHarcourt.
Wike got to know of the event when the Chairman of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Professor Abba Wasiri Hassan, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House.
The Governor who insisted the commissioner committed a huge mistake to have scheduled a parallel government function on such a day -announced his sack on the spot.
“Frankly speaking, I have never seen an embarrassment like this in my life.
“Everybody knows that it is not my nature to bring people and you cannot attend to them or host them. So, whoever has done this will suffer for it.” Wike asserted before announcing the sack of Health Commissioner, Princewill Chike.
