How Ohakim, Children Escaped Tragic Ambush

But for the fact that former Governor Ikedi Ohakim and his children – a boy and a girl – rode in a bulletproof vehicle and the driver was unrelenting in making a getaway from the scene, they would have been killed on Monday.

They were the subject of a deadly ambush on their way back from a visit.

The convoy of the Ohakims was attacked at Oriagu Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state.

The attackers reportedly rained heavy bullets on the car the former first family rode but the former Governor’s driver outwitted them by preventing a blockade.

The backup vehicle bearing security details was, however, not as lucky as it was blocked and the occupants killed.

The Ohakim’s backup vehicle was reportedly torched by the attackers.
