How Nigerians Celebrated President Buhari’s 75th Birthday Searching For Petrol
Sunday, December 17 was President Muhammadu Buhari’s birthday.
He turned 75.
And Nigerians celebrated it in an unusual way.
Many were searching for petrol all over town.
From Lagos to Abuja many petrol stations remained shut.
Especially in Lagos.
All through the early hours of the day till late in the evening, the story was the same.
A larger of the filling station was shut.
Of the fewer stations that operated, a larger number sold to containers.
Many were so involved desperate to get petrol in preparation for the beginning of work on Monday that it slipped consciousness the day the President’s birthday.
“They (government) couldn’t even provide us with adequate petrol on the president’s birth date” a source quipped sardonically.
