How Kunle “K-Rad” Adegoke Has Transformed Into Major Influence In Osun Guber Contest

Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, the senior lawyer turned politician has been identified as a major influence in the re-election bid of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in Osun state.

Adegoke popularly known as K-Rad is said to be rallying support for Oyetola, especially in the grassroots like no other.

SocietyNow.Ng. gathered that K-Rad’s efforts to help Oyetola get another term in office are magnified by the absence of Minister for Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

Aregbesola who groomed the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state, with massive grassroots followings, before and during his two terms as the Governor of Osun state – 27 November 2010 to 27 November 2018 – is against the ambition of Oyetola to serve another term and has refused to be a part of the campaign.

The Osun state 2022 gubernatorial election is fixed for July 16.

And with Aregbesola “missing in action”, the efforts of K-Rad – who was a gubernatorial aspirant in the 2018 Osun state governorship election – for the party and its candidate have become more pronounced – soaring his influence.

“From the day he dropped his Suit (which could have sent APC parking as it happened in Zamfara) K-Rad has done everything possible to support Oyetola.” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Angered by the manner he lost out in the APC gubernatorial primary in 2018 after a statewide campaign that attracted support beyond the party, the respected litigation lawyer with arresting exploits to his name headed to court to seek redress, but the “party supremacy” prevailed and he dropped the case.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that since then, the politician who was born in Osogbo and spent his formative years in the town – attended Ansar-Ud-deen Primary School, Osogbo, Ansar-Ud-deen Grammar School, Osogbo, Advanced Level studies at the Osogbo Grammar School – has directed his inner circle and all his local government and ward coordinators and all members of his socio-cultural group, Tiwa n Tiwa L’Osun to work for Governor Oyetola.

“His media network and image management team were also co-opted into positively projecting the Governor Oyetola and his government and his policies” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Added information revealed that this development – with apparent successes – and past engagements serving as bedrock, nourished a rapport that created direct access and fantastic rapport between Oyetola and Adegoke whose nickname K-Rad means Kunle Radical – an appellation from his days as an uncompromising student activist and unrepentant Marxist-Leninist, Secretary-General of the University of Ilorin Students’ Union and Secretary of Zone C of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

SocietyNow.Ng learned the level of closeness is such that K-Rad,52, provides “legal perspectives” on issues to the governor and government policies amongst other behind -the-scene support for the administration.

And this has greatly shored up his influence in Osun “power circle”.

An insider insists that it is an open secret in Osun state that K-Rad is for Oyetola because “he regularly holds Court at his Alekuwodo Osogbo Campaign headquarters with all his supporters and different political groups within and outside APC who see K-Rad as their de-facto leader on the need to work for the governor”.

“He’s said to have played a very pivotal role in the background pre, during, and post the APC gubernatorial primary that gave victory to Oyetola’s Group by defeating Aregbesola’s The Osun Progressive (TOP) faction to retain the ticket” added information revealed.

Aregbesola and his group after a feisty campaign in the run-up to the July 2022 Osun APC gubernatorial primary suffered a major defeat with the minister’s candidate, Moshood Adeoti consigned to a distant third.

Aregbesola has hugged the shadows since then.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that with the Minister “missing in action”, K-Rad who makes it a duty to mobilize and provide leadership direction for APC in both his Olorunda Local government and Osogbo has been leveraging continuing exploits to harness the statewide grassroots support left “idle” by Aregbesola for Oyetola.

This development is said to have transformed the husband of Olufunmilola – and father of four – from just the leader of a power block to one of the major deciders of the July 16, 2022, Osun gubernatorial contest.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that what makes “a difficult task look easy” for the Senior lawyer that holds a master’ Degree in Law with 4.0 Grade Points from the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos( in 2009) is that “he has maintained a very solid connection with players across social and political divides in Osun state over the years and just intensified efforts sustaining the bond to contain the threats created by the void caused by Aregbesola’s inaction regarding Oyetola’s re-election”.
