Just less than two minutes into the first half of the semi-final encounter between Manchester City and Real Madrid on April 26, 2022, Mahrez’s overhead pass was skillfully nodded into the net by the unmarked Kevin De Bruyne.

Manchester City will strike again in less than 10 minutes to double their lead and increase their chances of making it into the final. However, at 32-minute of play, Benzema pulled Real Madrid back into the game when he converted Mendy’s cross into a great goal.

With 10 matches played so far in the Champions League, Karim Benzema has scored 14 goals, making him the highest goal scorer in the 2021-2022 Champions League season and the third-highest goal scorer in the history of the competition.

The first leg at Etihad Stadium ended in a 4-3 win for Manchester City. It was a contest that took the breath out of fans of both clubs. But the game is far from over.

On Wednesday, May 4, actions will return at the Santiago Bernabèu Stadium as both European football giants lock horns for the second leg of the competition. This much-anticipated encounter will be live on SuperSport Football Plus (DStv Channel 202).

With estimated fans of 85,000, Benzema is hoping to clinch the win at Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday.

“A defeat is never good because we are really excited about the Champions League. The most important thing is we never lay down our arms. We are all in this until the end. Now we have to go to the Bernabeu. We will need our fans never like before, and we are going to do something magical, which is win.”
