How Gov Al-Makura Suffered Profound Deafness For Many Years

Governor of Nasarawa state, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura uses a hearing aid.

And emerging details have it that the state Chief Executive Officer wasn’t born with hearing defect.

The affliction hit him in the course of growing up.

According to revelations made by Al-Makura during a chat on The Platform, a television program with media expert Sam Omatseye as the anchor, he was hit by a mild illness and things spiral into multiple diagnoses that eventually determined Lassa fever as the ailment.

He was treated and got better at a cost – he was afflicted with what was identified as profound deafness.

The governor said he suffered the affliction for many years before the hearing aid came to his aid.

The Nassarawa state number citizen labeled the experience very emotional on the programme featured on television station TVC Saturday morning.

“It is an emotional story” he stated with feeling.

Al-Makura who disclosed he goes out of his way to care for those with special needs said he never imagined he would suffer the same fate at any point in his life.

The Nasarawa state governor is currently at the forefront of the campaign – by example – for the society to provide an enabling society that gives those with special needs a voice in the scheme of things.
