It is true, Diamond Bank is battling with some unpleasant situations.

The case of Mama Ashaye, the pensioner who had her life savings – all of five hundred thousand naira – wiped out of her account online, without subscribing to internet banking is transforming a big blotch on the reputation of the financial institution headed by Uzoma Dozie.

The bank has refused to pay back the fund which mysteriously disappeared – after an initially agreement of a refund – and pensioner’s sympathizers led by popular consumer rights advocate Sola Salako Ajulo are threatening court action against the bank.

It is also true that visits to a number of the bank’s outlets contend with crowd control.

“You just have to wait and wait and wait and people comment it’s virtually the same all over except in high-end areas like Victoria Island in Lagos and other such places” a visitor to the Ota branch provided insight.

But in the midst of these “unpleasantries”, there is a general consensus – the management receives good grades on the treatment meted on to pregnant women and nursing mothers.

“They giving express passage…they are never kept waiting” a source stated.

“I know some other banks embrace the same policy, but Diamond banks are exemplary…even if the pregnant woman or nursing mother doesn’t know and joins the queue, staff come and tell her to go straight to the top of the line and be attended to” another source stated.

Checks revealed the special care given to pregnant women, inside the banking hall, at Diamond bank has sparked off positive talks for the bank on the streets, especially amongst artisans and grassroots people.

“Just not soo go that, issued like that of mama ashaye is taking points off such a good development” a source stated.
