How Chief Of Army Staff Thanked Akeredolu For Support To Security Agencies

Urges the governor not to relent on his efforts.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya has commended Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State for the support he had been given to security agencies, especially, Nigerian Army.

Yahaya stated this while paying a courtesy visit to Akeredolu at his office on Wednesday in Akure.

According to the Chief of Army Staff, who says he is on a tour of formations and units under the 2nd Division in Ibadan, urges the governor not to relent on his efforts.

Yahaya said the support was important because the work securing lives and property of people was a collective one.

“I am going round the formations and units to see things for myself and interact with the men on the ground and check for areas of intervention.

“I was in Ibadan, came here from Benin and right after here to Ilorin. But you cannot come here to this state without paying homage to whom it is due and also appreciate him about his support to the Army and other security agencies as we battle various security issues.

I am here to appreciate and thank him for all the efforts and the supports and let me urge him to continue to support because security is a collective effort,” he said.

Responding, Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, appreciated the efforts of the men of Nigerian Army that asides securing territories, for also helping with internal security.

Akeredolu said part of the collaboration was the formation of Ondo State Security Outfit codenamed Amotekun that know and understands the terrain and nooks and crannies of the state.

The Governor appealed to the Chief of Army Staff to help urge his men to be more cooperative with the men of Amotekun while carrying out their duties.

Akeredolu, who reiterated his continuous commitment to the Nigerian Army said his government would ask for more cooperation so that the state would continually be peaceful.
