How Bode George Outplayed Musiliu Obanikoro For Jimi Agbaje To Emerge Lagos PDP Guber Candidate In An Environment Decorated Gunshots & Use Of Tear Gas

Jimi Agbaje emerged People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket holder for the upcoming Gubernatorial Election in Lagos state.

He won in a process that produced more votes than accredited delegates- 863 votes were credited to 806 delegates.

Chairman of the electoral committee Senator Shehu Kumo insisted the process continued in the face of inability to reconcile the discrepancy.

Five aspirants contested the election, but two major contenders stood out- former minister of state for finance and long time member of the top echelon of the party, Musiliu Obanikor and Jimi

Agbaje, a member of just 4 months but backed by powerful structure of one of those there at the inception, Bode George.

The other contestants as reflected in the votes polled trailed the duo by kilometres.

They are Babatunde Gbadamosi (21), Tokunbo Kamson ( 46), and Adedeji Doherty ( 21).

At the end of the counting of votes that had tables turned and several armed policemen formed barricade round the ballot boxes – Agbaje was awarded 432 votes while Obanikoro 346.

The announcement resulted in fiery protest from Obanikoro’s supporters which earned sporadic gunshots into the air and deployment of tear gas by increased numbers of security operatives drafted to the Yard 58 Oregun, Lagos Venue of the election.

The adjudged winner was quickly ferried away by security operatives.

Information filtering out revealed vital scenes in the emergence of the winner.

According to sources on ground, in the face of agitation over more votes than delegates- and insistence by electoral chairman, Kumo that votes be counted – Obanikoro had lowered his guard when he appeared to be winning.

His sense of false security was further heightened when Bode George adopted a defeatist attitude.

The party chieftain backed in his support for Agbaje by another rabidly anti Obanikoro PDP topshot, Adeseye Ogunlewe reportedly stomped off in supposed angst at what was assumed to be happening to him- losing.

According to information available to societynowng.com , the false security ploy kept Obanikoro at the venue and made him a part of the process from beginning to end- and validated the exercise.

‘He didn’t stage a walk out when the anomaly in the number of delegates and available votes were discovered…he lowered his guard at the possibility of winning and the table turned on him at the last moment’ an insider revealed.

Except he truly enjoys extraordinary preference with the Presidency and by extension national leadership of his party, informants confirm the former minister will have a hard time changing the tide of events against his loss.

The man who once vow nothing would stop his gubernatorial ambition is said to have making a formal complaint against the recent that consigned him to defeat to his People’s Democratic Party leadership describing it as ‘a sham’ – and called for a cancellation of the entire process.
