How Aregbesola Is Giving Oyetola Sleepless Nights Despite Back-To-Back Losses

The relevance of Minister for Interior Rauf Aregbesola is being magnified in Osun state despite back-to-back to the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu political family.

Aregbesola’s relevance is being played up ahead of the July 16, 2022, gubernatorial election in Osun state, based on projections of where he may swing.

Governor Gobyega Oyetola is seeking re-election against the passionate wishes of Aregbesola.

The first of Aregbesola’s back-to-back defeats to Tinubu came as a result of his inability to stop Oyetola from getting the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for the July 16, election.

Aregbesola who was Oyetola’s predecessor infamously publicly spoke against Tinubu in the futile attempt.

The second loss was in the inability of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to pick the APC Presidential ticket.

Aregbesola intensely worked for Osinbajo but Tinubu triumphed.

Insiders, however, revealed that despite these significant losses Aregbesola’s influence remains of the projected deciders of the 2022 Osun Gubernatorial election.

“With Aregbesola supporting Oyetola in 2018, the Governor won by a very narrow margin with the election spiraling into a rerun. As it stands Aregbesola and his people have refused to commit to the Governor’s re-election bid and this is causing a lot of tension in the APC in Osun State” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The added information available revealed that it has not helped the situation that talks are rife that the Minister is being massively lobbied by the main opposition party and his men have started crossing over based on his inaction in Osun APC.

“There are a lot of talks but nothing has been confirmed. It is an open secret that Aregbesola is very aggrieved by the alleged actions of the Governor and his men and Asiwaju but whether he goes the extreme case of supporting the opposition party to express his grievances is not confirmed. There are just speculations abound and it is making the Governor and his supporters restless” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Aregbesola is credited with grooming the APC in Osun state and possessing widespread grassroots influence.
