Just two years after joining the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), 22-year-old Aircraft Woman (ACW) Makanjuola Morerinayo Dominion has shot her way into national prominence—clinching 8 medals in a single sweep at the recently concluded Chief of Defence Staff’s Armed Forces Inter-Service Archery Competition in Abuja.

But her rise isn’t just about medals. It’s a story of discovery, determination, and the courage to seize a moment that changed everything.

It all started in May 2024 at the NAF Combat Games, held at the NAF Valley Sports Complex. On a casual invitation to “try a shot,” Makanjuola picked up a bow for the first time. She pulled, released—and hit the target. The crowd gasped. She smiled. That single moment marked the birth of an unexpected archery talent.

With the encouragement of NAF coaches and her own relentless discipline, Makanjuola quickly sharpened her skills.

Soon, she earned her place on the Air Force archery team and competed at the Inter-Service Games in Kaduna. There, she made her mark—securing 2 gold and 2 silver medals.

Her winning streak continued. At the All-African Military Games in November 2024, she represented Nigeria and struck gold twice on the continental stage. Then came April 2025—where she delivered her most stunning performance yet: 8 medals in one competition, dominating the Armed Forces archery scene.

From that first arrow to national acclaim, ACW Makanjuola’s journey embodies the NAF spirit—Willing. Able. Ready.

Her story reminds us that greatness often begins with a single brave choice—and flourishes through passion, perseverance, and purpose.
