Heavy Presence Of Police, NSCDC Operatives At Govt Buildings In Abeoukta As Ogun Workers Begin Indefinite Strike Action

Information filtering have it that there is currently a heavy presence of police men and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps at government buildings in Ogun state.
This development is said to be in the face commencement of sit at home action by government workers in the state with Ibikunle Amosun as Governor.
The strike action according to emerging revelations was ordered by the state chapters of Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.This is said to be after the 21-day ultimatum they had earlier given the state government expired.
Socetynowng.com gathered early this morning armed police men were deployed to strategic locations, especially government building in the state capital Abeokuta.
The presence of the law enforcers was complemented by those of the operatives of the NSCDC .
Different sources opined the presence of the law enforces was to maintain the ‘’peace’’.
According to information available the presence of the policemen was particularly heavy at the state secretariat.
Digs however revealed this deployment of law citizen protectors did not stop a early morning attack on labour leaders.

‘’ Some labour leaders and union members who had gathered at the state NLC secretariat around 8am were attacked by hoodlums.
One of those beaten, who pleaded anonymity said, “The thugs came in a Toyota Camry and some others came on motorcycles, they descended on union leaders and some of us members who had gathered at the secretariat, beating us blue and black.
“The thugs covered the number plate of the car, in order to shield the identity of the owner from being traced. This is sad.”
Another said, “They attacked our members at Laderin Estate, Kuto Roundabout and Oke Ilewo.”
Societynowng.com gathered the attackers remained at large as the development further emboldened labour leaders to carry on with the industrial action.
Schools, Health centres, local councils and related government agencies remain shut down as the strike action takes off.
