Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran Nollywood actor, filmmaker and scholar, Dr. Kola Oyewo, describing his passing as a monumental loss to the creative industry, academia and the people of Osun State.

In a condolence message issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the late thespian as a cultural icon whose contributions to the arts and education enlightened minds and brought important societal issues to the forefront.

Adeleke recalled Oyewo’s distinctive acting style, which endeared him to millions of movie lovers across Nigeria and beyond, noting that the veteran actor left an indelible mark on the nation’s film industry.

“Dr. Kola Oyewo was a delight to watch in movies, combining great acting and exceptional storytelling skills to entertain movie lovers. Beyond acting, Dr. Oyewo shaped futures from the classrooms, guiding young people to excellence through exceptional tutorship,” the governor said.

He noted that the late actor, who hailed from Oba-Ile in Osun State, lived a life marked by remarkable accomplishments and service to humanity.

The governor said Oyewo’s legacy would continue to endure through the countless lives he touched both on screen and in the classroom.

“With him gone, the memory of the sensation he radiates to homes from the screen, and even more, the lives he helped shape for the better are worthy consolations. I mourn his passing knowing well the great talent is gone,” Adeleke stated.

He extended his condolences to the actor’s immediate family, the Oloba of Oba-Ile Council, members of the movie industry, the academic community and all those affected by the loss.

“On that note, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the entire Oloba of Oba-Ile council, the movie industry, the academia and everyone touched by this painful loss. It is my sincere prayer that they get the strength to bear the hard moment that the passing of Dr. Oyewo represents. May God grant his soul eternal rest,” the governor added.
