Itoko, Ogun State, was filled with joy and celebration yesterday as Venerable John Okanlawon Sofoluwe marked his 70th birthday in grand style.

Born on December 9, 1954, to the family of Joseph and Christianah Alake Sofoluwe, Venerable Sofoluwe has dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity.

The celebration, held at the Emmanuel Anglican Church, Keesi, Abeokuta, was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, including four bishops who graced the occasion.

Notable bishops in attendance included Bishop Adekunle of Egba Diocese and Bishop Ogundeji of Egba West Diocese, as well as other retired lord bishops. Also present were venerables, canons, deacons, and the wives of priests.

Family members, including children and grandchildren, joined to celebrate their patriarch.

Although his wife, Opeoluwa Olaide Sofoluwe (née Akinola)—a devoted mother of twins and a practicing nurse based in America—was unable to attend in person, she made a significant contribution to the celebration.

She sent a heartfelt message filled with love and appreciation, alongside numerous gifts that added to the joy and festivity of the occasion.

Her love and support were deeply felt despite the physical distance.

In their goodwill messages, the bishops and other speakers eulogized Venerable Sofoluwe, highlighting his impact on the lives of many

through his children’s ministry and his notable contributions while serving as a zonal inspector in the Ogun State Ministry of Education.

The celebration was a testament to Venerable Sofoluwe’s enduring legacy and the impact he has had on his community. It was also a celebration of his life, which was almost cut short a few years ago.

However, God had other plans, and Venerable Sofoluwe has continued to serve and inspire others.

As Venerable Sofoluwe marks this significant milestone, his family, friends, and well-wishers pray that God will continue to bless him with good health, wisdom, and many more years of service to humanity.
